Schneller, schöner, simpler - das Treiber-Update für Nvidia-Grafikkarten macht große Versprechungen. Vor allem Assassin's Creed III, Black Ops 2 und Far Cry 3 sollen profitieren.
Ab sofort steht der neue Geforce-Grafikkarten-Treiber 310.70 WHQL zum Download bereit. Der neue Treiber für Nvidia-Karten verspricht bis zu 37% mehr Leistung in 21 Spielen. Das neue Far Cry 3 soll um 37% flotter laufen, Call of Duty: Black Ops II um 26%, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena um 18%, Assassin's Creed III um 17% und Battlefield 3 immerhin um 12%.

Die Prozentangaben gelten nicht für jedes Grafikkarten-Modell, schränkt Nvidia ein. Aufgrund der schieren Menge notwendiger Benchmarks könne man nicht auf den Zugewinn einer jeden einzelnen Grafikkarte eingehen. Im Falle von FarCry habe man die Benchmarks mit den Modellen GTX 670, 680 und 690 durchgeführt. Dabei habe man SSAO Ambient Occlusion, Transparency Supersampling Standard und 8xMSAA eingestellt. Im Testsystem steckten 8 GB RAM und eine Intel Core i7-3960X. Die Auflösung betrug Full HD. Durch das Update rutschen die ersten beiden Karten in diesen Einstellungen erst über die 30-fps-Grenze, verrät Nvidia.
Ausgewählte Spiele soll das Update auch hübscher aussehen lassen. So würden beispielsweise Black Ops II und Assassin's Creed III ab sofort vom TXAA Anti-Aliasing profitieren. Bei dieser Art der Kantenglättung soll es zu fast gar keiner Treppchenbildung mehr kommen, verspricht Nvidia. Außerdem habe man im Treiber die ehemals komplizierte Konfiguration von Fullscene Sparse Grid Supersampling Anti-Aliasing vereinfacht und neue SLI-Profile für Nutzer mit mehreren Grafikkarten hinzugefügt.
Zuletzt hat Nvidia auch einige Bugs abgearbeitet. In Assassin's Creed III sollen nun keine Schatten mehr flackern und in Hitman: Absolution gibt es nun keinen "Driver Not Responding"-Fehler mehr, verspricht der GraKa-Hersteller.
