Mehr als ein Viertel aller Spam-Mails des letzten Monats kamen aus Saudi-Arabien. Deutschland folgt auf dem dritten Platz. Einer der Hauptverursacher ist ein Bot-Netz, das vorzugsweise für gefälschte Potenzpillen wirbt.

Das Spam-Aufkommen, das von IP-Adressen in Saudi-Arabien ausgeht, hat in den letzten Wochen und Monaten deutlich zugenommen. Im August hat sich Saudi-Arabien mit einem Anteil von 29,7 Prozent weltweit auf Platz 1 der Herkunftsländer unerwünschter Mail-Werbung geschoben. Die Spam-Forscher des Berliner Sicherheitsunternehmens eleven sehen das Bot-Netz Festi als Hauptursache für diese Entwicklung.
Neben Saudi-Arabien ist auch die Türkei durch Festi-Infektion betroffen gewesen, doch türkische Provider haben dieses Problem bereits beseitigt. Bei den Spam-Themen liegt weiterhin Werbung für Versender gefälschter Potenzmittel vorn. Die Festi-Bots verschicken hauptsächlich solche Spam-Mails.
