Rennspiele mit starkem Storyeinschlag gab es in der Need-for-Speed-Serie viele. EA will diese Vorlage jetzt ausbauen und das Spiel auf die Kinoleinwand bringen.

Der Publisher Electronic Arts will seine Rennspiel-Serie Need for Speed auf die Kinoleinwand bringen. Als Drehbuch-Autoren für eine Filmumsetzung sind bereits die Gatins-Brüder (Real Steel) an Bord. John Gatins wird dabei neben EA auch als Produzent auftreten. Im Moment klappert der Spielehersteller allerdings noch die Hollywood-Studios auf der Suche nach Unterstützung ab. Warner Bros., Sony und Paramount sollen laut Variety bereits Interesse zeigen. Bislang scheint dabei Paramount der interessierteste Partner an dem EA-Projekt zu sein. Budget-Angaben für die Verfilmung belaufen sich bislang aber noch auf niedrige Millionen-Angaben.

Universal hingegen braucht wohl neben seiner Fast-and-Furious-Reihe keine weitere Auto-Serie und hat kein Interesse bekundet. Kein Wunder, schließlich ist bereits der sechste Teil Tuning-lastigen Reihe in der Vorbereitung, die einst für den Aufstieg von Vin Diesel zum Actionstar sorgte.
